As Associate Dean of Operations, I am committed to supporting the students, staff, and faculty of the College of Science. My own educational journey was shaped by dedicated faculty mentors, transformative learning experiences, and institutions focused on ensuring student success. As a professor of Biological Science, department chair, and now associate dean, I strive to ensure that Cal State East Bay students have access to the same types of meaningful opportunities and support that had such a lasting impact on my education. I grew up in the East Bay and received my bachelor’s and MS degrees in Ecology and Systematic Biology from San Francisco State University, and my Ph.D. in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University.
