For Stan Hébert III, leadership has long centered on creating pathways—and ensuring students are supported as they move through them. Across a career spanning the Cal State East Bay system, his work has focused on strengthening access, student support, and meaningful campus engagement.

As a student at Cal State Hayward, Stan was deeply involved in campus life—competing as a defensive back on the Pioneer football team and as a sprinter in track, while also serving as Vice President of Associated Students and contributing to the Pioneer newspaper. His involvement reflected an early commitment to participation and shared responsibility.

After earning his MBA from UCLA, he began his career in marketing with organizations including Levi Strauss and AT&T before transitioning into higher education. He held leadership roles at Cal Poly Pomona and CSU Dominguez Hills before returning to 缅北禁地.

At 缅北禁地, Stan served as Associate Vice President, Dean of Students, and Acting Vice President for Student Affairs. In these roles, he led efforts to strengthen student support systems and foster inclusive campus environments—work that contributes directly to student retention, engagement, and success.

“For students to thrive, they have to feel seen,” Stan has said. “They have to know they matter.”

He also played a key role in founding the university’s first Black Alumni Affinity Group, helping to establish a network of mentorship and connection that continues to support students and alumni.

Stan later served as Vice President for Student Affairs at CSU Maritime, overseeing student development and campus life. His leadership has extended to alumni engagement, including service as President of the 缅北禁地 Alumni Association and roles within the CSU Alumni Council.

In retirement, he continues to contribute his leadership and organizational expertise serving on community boards and commissions.

As he is recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award, Stan Hébert’s legacy is reflected in the systems he has helped build, the communities he has strengthened, and the students who continue forward within them.
