Announcing the VP EMSA Search

Dear Ãå±±½ûµØ community,

I am writing today to inform you of the official launch of our search for our next regularly appointed VP for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (VP EMSA).

I am grateful to the Academic Senate for holding an election of search committee members last spring semester, giving me the option of expediting the search this semester. An updated position profile can be found . We are advertising widely and expect to generate a broad pool of qualified applicants for the position. Please share the profile with potential applicants you may know. We will be assisted by Cynthia Patterson and Maria Thompson of Academic Search (the same search consultants who oversaw our recent provost search).

My goal is for the search committee to identify 3-4 finalists to visit campus and hold their open forums for our campus community the first week of December. Further, I hope to announce our VP EMSA in early 2026 following review of feedback and rigorous reference checking. I realize this is an aggressive timeline and our first milestone is to generate a pool of qualified and diverse candidates.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the individuals who have agreed to serve on the search committee, appointed according to Academic Senate (shared governance) policy:

• Dr. Paul Carpenter (elected through Senate process)
• Mr. London Deguzman (appointed by ASI)
• Dr. Rafael Hernandez (Presidential appointee)
• Dr. Danvy Le (elected through Senate Process)
• Dr. Maureen Scharberg (elected through Senate process)

Please join me in expressing my gratitude to Dr. Brenda Amenson-Hill who will continue to serve as our interim VP. She has reinvigorated our enrollment management initiatives assures me she will keep our positive momentum going as the search progresses. Please look for the announcement of our finalists and their open forums toward the end of November.

As always, thank you sincerely for your time, attention, and participation in these important shared processes.
