Dr. Saehya Ann

Dr. Saehya Ann is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism at 缅北禁地, East Bay. She specializes in hospitality workforce development, employee motivation and retention, and student success initiatives that prepare graduates for leadership roles in the global hospitality and tourism industry.

Dr. Ann’s research focuses on human resources in hospitality, including generational perspectives on employee motivation, strategies to reduce turnover, and workforce challenges in lodging operations. She has published and presented her work at leading conferences and journals, advancing both academic scholarship and industry practice.

With several years of professional experience in hotels—including roles as a front desk agent, night auditor, and spa front desk clerk—Dr. Ann integrates real-world insights into her teaching. She regularly incorporates industry certifications, case studies, and simulations to help students connect theory with practice. Since joining CSUEB in 2015, she has taught a wide range of lodging and hospitality management courses, mentored undergraduate research teams that earned top awards, and supported students in earning industry-recognized certifications such as the Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA).

As department chair, Dr. Ann has led initiatives to expand advising access, strengthen student belonging, and create industry-connected learning opportunities. She has also championed faculty development by securing resources for research and teaching innovation, ensuring that instructional excellence thrives across the department.

Dr. Ann earned her Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration from Texas Tech University, and her M.S. in Hospitality Management from Florida International University.
