The Hayward Promise Entrepreneurship Initiative (PEI) supports residents of Hayward and Cherryland in launching and growing their own businesses. This 10-month mentorship program begins with six mandatory in-person Saturday sessions starting on September 6, 2025, held at the Hayward Public Library, followed by individualized mentorship for the remainder of the program.

PEI is led by Hayward Promise Neighborhoods and the College of Business and Economics at 缅北禁地, East Bay, in collaboration with local partners, small businesses, and experienced entrepreneurs.

Participants gain a hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of building a successful business. Over six consecutive Saturday mornings, subject matter experts, university faculty, and entrepreneurs guide participants through essential business concepts and practices.

The curriculum covers everything from developing a strong business idea and understanding the target market to creating a sustainable profit model, establishing operations, crafting marketing strategies, and building financial literacy.

At its core, PEI focuses on developing an entrepreneurial mindset and teaching resourcefulness—encouraging participants to “do more with less” and build momentum even with limited resources. The program’s interactive format invites participants to bring their real-world business ideas and challenges to each session, making the experience practical, personalized, and directly applicable to their entrepreneurial journeys.
